UK. Health and Safety inspector praises Marchwood boatbuilder
By BYM Industry News, Friday, 27 November 2009
Composite
Mouldings Ltd of Marchwood, Southampton, recently had a surprise
inspection carried out by the Health and Safety Executive. The FRP and
GRP Moulder had not been inspected before and the HSE claimed that the
inspection was one of many being carried out, in the area, to get a
feel, for the standards held by boatbuilding companies on the South
Coast.
In a letter after the inspection, HM Inspector of Factories, Mr. D Macwilliam, wrote:
“Clearly
the company’s objectives are to maintain a quality management system
throughout, which compliments the Health and Safety requirements, and I
was impressed with the standard of Health and Safety arrangements in
place. I could see the efforts made, to ensuring the safety of those
working at Composite Mouldings Ltd.”
Warwick
Buckley, MD said “This is a fantastic result for the company, we are
always trying to exceed what is expected of us and this shows that we
are headed in the right direction. It will be a great spring board, for
us to keep pushing, and take the company to the next level.”
Composite
Mouldings Ltd is a Lloyds Register assessed builder running under ISO
9001 standards. They currently occupy 10,000 sq ft of factory space and
a further 22,000 sq ft of yard space. The inspection was completely
random and not through any communication brought to the Health and
Safety Executive.
