Issue 4 14/05/2008 - Cancer Research Pig

Composite Mouldings Ltd's original brief was to build a pig which was 1.8m long, 1.4m high and 1.2m wide (Vietnamese potbelly variety) to be carried around the London marathon to collect money for Cancer Research UK. Originally the pig was expected to weigh 40kg but with CML’s technical advise and their ability to use different applications and materials they were able to get the pig’s final weight down to 25kg.

The pig was carried around the London marathon in the time of 7 hours and 25 minutes. The intent was not to raise a lot of money (although £800 was raised on the day) but to generate publicity before the main event which takes place on 5th July. Setting off from Glasgow City Centre on a tandem bike with the Piggy Bank in tow they will be cycling 12 hours a day visiting as many towns and cities in the UK until 27th July arriving in Richmond Park, London. They hope to raise a further £100,000.
