Grignard, the US manufacturer of specialized chemicals, is pleased to announce they are entering the UK market with a range of mould release waxes, which range from a paste wax to the highly professional semi-permanent liquid systems.
The companies’ roots descend from Victor Grignard, the son of a sail maker, who received in 1912 the Nobel Prize for chemistry. Grignard, as it is known today started in 1963, based in Newark, New Jersey, the company was founded by Emile Grignard. His son, Etienne Grignard, currently heads the company.

In the UK Grignard expects to first launch their paste wax “Mold Magic”. The wax is probably different from what most people conceive it to be: presented in a normal paste can, it looks like other waxes. However, inside, there is an advanced technology used, as the polymers crosslink and permit to do many more pulls per application than what traditionally can be expected. The product is actually like a hybrid: two working technologies in one vehicle.
The semi-permanent liquid systems are either water – or solvent based. The systems contain each a cleaner, a sealer and a release product. There is even a combined product which is a release product with a sealer incorporated. That way companies can bring back the amount of coatings which have to be applied and therefore be faster in time. There are specialized releases with fast evaporation for high-speed manufacturing and even for the new high temperature PEEK composites a product has been designed.
